How I Used ChatGPT to Build a $10K/Month Side Business in 6 Months

10

Six months ago I started using ChatGPT to launch a niche content business, and this month it crossed $10K in revenue. Here’s the actual playbook, no fluff.

The business: Premium industry reports for the specialty coffee market. I research trends, compile data, and produce monthly reports that roasters and cafe owners subscribe to.

How ChatGPT fits in:
– Market research: I feed it industry articles and ask it to identify trends and data points
– Report drafting: I use it to structure findings into professional report format
– Email marketing: It writes my weekly newsletter drafts that I then edit for voice
– Customer support: Templated responses for common subscription questions

What ChatGPT does NOT do:
– Original research or interviews (I still do those manually)
– Final editing (AI-written text still needs human polish for premium content)
– Strategic decisions about pricing, partnerships, or product direction

Total time investment: About 15 hours/week, down from what would be 40+ hours without AI.

The key insight: ChatGPT didn’t replace expertise. I already knew the coffee industry. It just let me produce expert-quality output 3x faster.

Happy to answer specific questions about the setup.

one word of caution tho - dont rely on AI for anything involving actual numbers or financial calculations without double checking. it confidently gives wrong math sometimes

I think the businesses that figure out AI first are going to have a massive competitive advantage over the next 2-3 years. its like the internet in 1998

I run a 3 person agency and AI basically functions as our 4th employee at this point. content creation, research, client reporting, all of it
