ok so I actually tested this pretty extensively last week and heres what I found - competition between labs is great for consumers right now. for those cases I had to modify the technique a bit. happy to share details if anyones interested

I actually wrote something about this a few weeks ago. the key insight for me was open source models are closing the gap with proprietary ones fast. changed how i think about the whole thing
